Buying Property in an emerging market like the Cape Verde Islands can for some be a daunting experience. Here, we have compiled some more information to help guide you through the process of buying property in the Cape Verde Islands:
Stages:
Find a lawyer ensure that there are no outstanding charges on the property.
Instruct the lawyer to represent you in obtaining the promissory contract and deed. (for this the lawyer may need power of attorney).
Sign the Contract of sale and purchase
Sign the final deed of conveyance or ‘Escritura’ (signed infront of a notary public in Cape Verde) and gives you title of the Property.
Instruct your lawyer to register the purchase of the property with the local land registry.
Expect notary and registration fees to amount to roughly 2.5% of the value of the property, paid during the signing of the deed.
