Paphos

Once the capital of Cyprus under the successors of Alexander the Great, Paphos is one of the most ancient towns in Cyprus. With its glorious history and Greek mythology, it is a beautiful place for all to see. The modern and charming town focuses on a small, attractive little fishing harbour. This is the birthplace and also the centre of worship of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty. People travel far and wide to view the landmarks associated with her including the rugged rocks of her beautiful birthshore known as the Aphrodite Rocks or "Petra tou Romiou". Paphos entwines that holiday feeling with both magic and mystic.

Larnaca

Larnaca has been a major tourist destination since the 1970s and is the third largest town. Its promenade, which is lined with palm trees, fronts the lively town that offers bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. Nearby is the second largest port on the island, Larnaca Marina, one of the few shelters for yachts on the island. During the feast of Kataklysmos (the Greek Orthodox Whitsun) crowds of people gather together along the shore for watersports, singing, dancing, eating and drinking Once an ancient city kingdom, Larnaca has a relaxed and leisurely atmosphere that boasts white sandy beaches, clear blue waters and water sport facilities including scuba diving.

Limassol

Limassol is the island's largest seaside resort and is famous for its spring carnival and autumn wine festival. Limassol Castle stands guard over the old harbour and houses the Cyprus Medieval Museum. The old town and harbour are peaceful and serene whilst the main cosmopolitan tourist area bustles with shops, restaurants and nightlife. There are a number of archaeological and historical areas around Limassol including Amathus which was once the capital of a city-kingdom, but is now in ruins and partly covered by the sea. The foothills of the Troodos Mountains lie north of Limassol which provide most of the country's grapes for the wine-making industry and also a picturesque backdrop for this beautiful resort.
